Author Salman Rushdie has misplaced sight in a single eye and mobility in a single hand after he was brutally stabbed whereas giving a lecture in New York, his agent has revealed.
The 75-year-old - greatest identified for his novel The Satanic Verses which triggered a fatwa calling for his demise from the supreme leader of Iran - was stabbed a number of occasions as he took to the stage to present a chat on inventive freedom on the Chautauqua Institute on August 12.
Mr Rushdie needed to bear emergency surgical procedure after struggling stab wounds to the neck and abdomen, puncture wounds to his proper eye and chest and a laceration on his proper thigh.
