The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled 7th May, 2024 as date for the opening of the voters registers to the public.

In addition, the EC stated that opening the register gives an chance to persons who just turned the eligible voting age of 18 to have their names captured into the system.
Deputy Chairman, Operations at the Commission, Samuel Tettey added that, persons who have misplaced their voters’ card would also have the chance to register.
“Voting registration is often the most complex and expensive component of the electoral process and it involves identifying which citizens are eligible to vote and producing a list of register of voters for use on polling day.
"Often a contested process and if wrong, they comprise the entire election process, so the voters’ register plays an significant role in securing a very successful election” he said.
He emphasised that an exhibition of the voters’ registration will be later done to allow for corrections of names or other details.
