Fuel Tanker Explodes On Kumasi Accra Highway

A fuel tanker with registration number GS 5343-18 yesterday exploded along the Kumasi to Accra Highway.
The Ghana National Fire Service, in a post on its Facebook page, said firefighters from the Suhum Fire Station led by STNO II Darkwah Prince Ofobi were able to contain the flames within minutes despite the gravity of the situation.
According to the post, though the cause of explosion was under investigation, there were no reported injuries.
“The prompt action taken by the crew prevented a potential catastrophic explosion, despite significant damage to the tanker’s head and its contents.
“Arriving promptly at the scene, the firefighters battled the flames, bringing the situation under control within minutes and extinguishing the fire entirely shortly after. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as no injuries were recorded,” the Facebook post stated.
It said despite extensive damage to the tanker’s head and its contents, prompt response of the crew prevented a severe explosion of the tanker truck, while commending the crew for their quick response, dedication and bravery in the face of danger.
