The Eastern regional minister, Seth Acheampong, has expressed his disappointments over the former Member of Parliament, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who decided to resign from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to contest as an Independent Candidate in the Ejisu by-election.
Speaking on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Tuesday, April 30, the regional minister mentioned that, the decision to leave the party over issues that can resolved is not a good reason enough.
According to the regional minister, during elections, it is obvious that, it is only one person who will be declared the winner at the end of the day, hence, if one feels he has been cheated or not treated right in an election, there are appropriate authorities who can resolve the issue.
He said, "we all go for contests; we win some and lose some but when we lose, it is not enough reason for us to leave the party we were all serving some time ago. That is not how things are done.’’
Praising the NPP government on various projects done in the Ejisu constituency, the Eastern regional minister said, "the government has been tremendous with development in the Ejisu constituency, so we believe that governments good works will speak for the NPP candidate.’’
Seth Acheampong added that, the late John Kumah, also worked effectively in the constituency so it is only appropriate that another NPP member is brought to persist with the vision of the party.
He added that, the spirit of the late John Kumah is in support of an NPP member winning the election, thus, advising the people of Ejisu not to make the mistake of voting for any other person.
