Chief Executive of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku has reinforced President Nana Addo's announcement that the current power crisis, locally known as "dumsor", has been resolved.
The President, during the annual May Day celebration today (May 1, 2024) in Accra, declared that Ghanaians will no longer experience uninterrupted power supply.
“Over the period, the issues surrounding transformers and gas supply have been successfully resolved resulting in sufficient improvement in power supply reliability...Indeed, over the past few days, we have witnessed stable electricity supply across the country with no load-shedding reported anywhere yesterday”, he stated, adding “for the past seven years, we have worked tirelessly to keep the lights on and I am confident that the unfortunate era of dumsor will not return".
While discussing matters on Peace FM's Thursday edition of "Kokrokoo" show, Sammi Awuku expressed certainty that the power obstacles will soon indeed be a thing of the past.
According to him, the call for government, particularly the Electricity organization of Ghana, to release a load-shedding timetable wasn't answered not to show disrespect to Ghanaians but rather due to the intelligence that the government possessed regarding the issue.
He noted that the government was only being circumspect and cautious however, to him, the dumsor problems as communicated to Ghanaians have been resolved and there will be no erratic power supply across the nation anymore.
"I confidently believe that we are almost seeing the end of this dumsor...Now that the government has got that broader view and with what I have seen, I am going with the President's comment on that," he told host Kwami Sefa Kayi.
