We Can Lament, Accuse And Allege But It Won't Fix Our Economy - Dennis Miracles | Politics

The Director of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development at the Presidency, Dennis Miracles Aboagye has appealed to Ghanaians to be patient with the Akufo-Addo administration in restoring the economy.
He asked the citizenry not to dismay but be confident in the government to get Ghana's economy back in good shape.
Dennis Miracles advised critics and opponents of the government to dump all oppositions and support the current administration stressing, "We've done a lot of finger-pointing. We've done a lot of accusations. We've done a lot of allegations. What the people of Ghana need right is for us to get out of the situation that we find ourselves now . . . I prefer that we solve our problem and afterwards we can return to the finger-pointing because there's no point; there's no need. We can work the point. We can lament. We can accuse and alleviate but it won't change anything until we fix our challenge and that, for me, is where I think the conversations should go to".
"We really need to understand that there is no winner in this arrangement. I think we need to flip the coin. Rather than spending time to accuse, alleviate, point fingers; we should rather spend the time rally around government, refine what government proposals are," he added.
On why some people's investments in the banks have dwindled down, Dennis Miracles explained that this is not a haircut but rather, due to the economic and financial challenges, it's become necessary for the government to cut down on high interest rates on investments which invariably has resulted in people reaping low investments.
However, he stated it is better for the citizens not to withdraw their investments saying it won't benefit them to do so now, rather they should let their monies remain with their banks as the government works to stabilize the economy.
"The reason why we have government, the reason why we have leadership is that, in difficult times like this, we stand up, lead our people and I'm very confident that this government will get us out of this challenge. This is not the first time we've been here. We've seen this before as a country. We've had situations where this country has gone in excess of about 100/115/120 percent inflation but we've managed to at some point bring our inflation down to single digit. I am very confident that we will get out of it. What we need at this point is to find a way of rallying all of us around the flag and moving on," he said while speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show.
