National Service Personnel Association Distances Itself From Strike Action

The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has distanced itself from a purported strike declared by a group calling itself the "Concerned NSS Personnel Association of Ghana".
In a statement signed the President of NASPA, Gideon Osei, the association said the group at the centre of the strike had no mandate to represent the interest of service persons.
"NASPA, the official representative body for all national service personnel in Ghana, categorically states that we have not declared any strike. We urge the public to disregard the statement from the "Concerned NSS Personnel Association of Ghana," (CONSAG) as they are not a recognised organisation," the statement added.
It added that NASPA was "actively engaged with the National Service Scheme (NSS) management to address the recent delays in allowance payments."
NASPA assured all service persons that allowances for April 2024 had been processed and paid and would reflect in their accounts by Friday, July 5, 2024, while allowances for May, 2024 would be paid next week, by Friday, July 12, 2024.
"NASPA remains committed to your well-being. We are working diligently with management of the scheme to prevent future delays and ensure the timely reflection of allowances in their e-zwich accounts.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time," the association added.
It called on all service persons to remain calm and persist their valuable service to the country.
