Head of Linguistics of the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum has admonished parents and guardians to fuel exam malpractices by pampering their school children.
Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly called "Opanyin Agyekum", highlighting some malpractices that have characterized this year's ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) during Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, expressed worry over the misconduct of some students in the exam halls.
He condemned the practice where students send foreign materials among others to the exam halls to aid their answering of the questions and partly blamed parents and guardians for such behaviors of their wards.
Opanyin Agyekum wondered why parents would resort to financial inducements in the name of assisting their children by way of buying what in local parlance is referred to as "apor" to pass their exams.
To him, such actions must be discouraged, hence called on the parents to desist from it and allow their children to study and pass their exams.
