A former Central Regional Minister and a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s campaign launched in Tamale, the capital of the Northern region on July 27, 2024, was borne out of fear and panic.
The NDC launched their campaign in Tamale. The campaign launch witnessed an array of political liturgies from the rank and file of the party.
Present at the campaign launch in the heart of the Northern region was the revered National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the flag bearer of the party, John Dramani Mahama, his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, amongst many national and regional executives of the party.
However, Kwamena Duncan, during a live radio discussion on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, stated that, the launch of the campaign was as a result of panic reaction from the pressure being mounted on them by the flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP at large.
"NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale on Saturday, if you will be truthful to yourself, was a panic reaction done out of fear. If you observe carefully how the organization of the campaign went, you will realise that the NDC’s effort could not match NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s constituency by constituency campaign.
“There’s grave fear in the NDC and John Mahama which resulted in the rush to have their campaign launched,” he stressed.
