The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to refrain from attending security meetings if they are unwilling to sign the peace pact.
He emphasized that there is no point in their attendance if they are not willing to commit to peace.
During an interview on Peace FM's Kokrokoo morning show, which was monitored by GhanaWeb, Justin Kodua disclosed that the NDC representatives participate in meetings organized by the Peace Council, IPAC, the Electoral Commission, and other relevant bodies.
"In all the meetings that we attend, the most crucial aspect that will foster peace, you are refusing to sign. Then why do you attend those meetings? That is our concern as the New Patriotic Party," Justin lamented.
This statement was prompted by remarks made by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, declaring that the party will not sign the peace pact ahead of the upcoming general elections.
In view of this, the NPP General Secretary bemoaned the NDC’s stance while mentioning instances in the past where they did not agree with election outcomes but still signed the peace pact for the sake of Ghana's peace.
He however assured Ghanaians that there would be no chaos from the NPP camp and urged the Security Council to enhance measures ahead and during the polls on December 7.
He also called for strict action against anyone, regardless of their political affiliation, who attempts to interrupt the country’s democracy and peace.
