Ghana may lose the temporary license to host its home games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in future international windows,Stars are set to play their first home game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola on September 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This comes after a recent inspection by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium had been under intense scrutiny following a church event that left the playing surface in poor condition.
Viral photos of the damaged pitch prompted CAF to dispatch inspectors to evaluate the stadium's readiness for the upcoming qualifier against Angola.
CAF has granted Ghana a temporary license to use the stadium for Thursday's game, but with specific conditions that must be met before the next international window in October.
These conditions include improvements to floodlight intensity, dressing rooms, the venue operation centre, washrooms, the safe zone, and stadium sound systems.
In an interview with an Accra-based radio station Happy FM, the Ghana FA Spokesperson Henry Asante Twum mentioned that among the conditions set by CAF, the most challenging to meet is the establishment of a Venue Operation Center.
Should Ghana fail to meet these requirements, the next AFCON 2025 qualifier could be moved to Morocco.
Ghana play Sudan in matchday three of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on October 11, 2024.
