The Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, Nana Akomea, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, are frightened ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to him, based on the utterances of the NDC executives and their flagbearer, the entire party fraternity is panicking at the mention of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo on September 3, 2024, he referenced Mahama’s recent comments on Bawumia’s meet-the-press event and his allies rejecting the call for a debate from the NPP.
“So, what Mahama was saying, that why would he hold his manifesto on Saturday and we hold a press conference a day later, it shows that he is frightened and that the NDC is frightened because what he is saying doesn’t sound well.
“And if you remember concerning the presidential debate, it is the same fear that fell on him. Is it the first time that we are going to have a presidential debate in the country? If we are calling for a debate and you feel you won’t participate, just say it.
“But to go around saying Bawumia should go and debate tomato sellers, parliamentarians, and others, now they are saying Bawumia doesn’t respect, so why would he call for a debate? They are just saying anything, and you can see that they have panicked and are scared,” he said.
