Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has outlined measures that, if he becomes President, he will implement to alleviate the plight of Ghanaians.
Although admittedly the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has done a lot in the area of infrastructure and other sectors of the economy to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians, the situation of the citizenry as a result of the global obstacles cannot be overlooked.
Hence, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, addressing a gathering at Ada during his campaign tour, has reiterated his earnest desire to instigate developmental projects that will significantly impact lives.
He touched on some areas among many others that he would like to focus his energies on to ensure Ghanaians are better off under his Presidency.
From agriculture to cost of living, he stated how he is going to work to improve the conditions.
On agriculture, he said; "I believe that we are still an agriculture country and any government has to pay a lot attention to agriculture and fishing in our economy. That is what drives the economy. 60% of our population - North, South East and West - engage in agriculture and fishing. This is where I want to focus to bring in innovation to our agriculture."
He continued he will make loans accessible to farmers to help them.
"To bring credit and loans to the farmers, so that they can expand their production. Through this, they can also acquire the needed farming implements and equipment that will allow them to have large-scale farming to ensure that we bring food prices down and ensure food security."
On food security and reducing food prices, Dr. Bawumia stated his government will prioritize innovation and roll out schemes to promote agribusiness.
He further noted his government will focus on electric buses for public transportation to decrease transport cost and also introduce many other projects aimed at reducing cost of living.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi
