The Ghana Grid organization Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity organization of Ghana (ECG) have issued a joint public notice explaining the recent power supply disruptions affecting parts of the country.
In a statement released on September 25, 2024, the two agencies attributed the outages to obstacles at Ghana National Gas organization’s (GNGC) Gas Processing Plant in Atuabo, which has caused a reduction in gas supply for power generation.
GRIDCo and ECG have apologised for the inconvenience caused, assuring the public that engineers are actively working to resolve the issue and restore full gas supply.
"We apologise unreservedly for the inconveniences caused to the public as a result of this test," the statement read.
The agencies are closely monitoring the situation and expressed optimism that normal power supply will resume once the problem at the Atuabo plant is addressed.
They also urged the public to remain patient as efforts are made to minimize further disruptions.
