The electorates have been admonished to consider competence ahead of religion or any other considerations in casting their ballots during the polls.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’ the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate, making the call, said the country needs a competent leader to progress.
Napo emphatically stated that Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, who is a staunch Muslim, is the most competent and suitable person to lead the country as president now.
Speaking at Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency as part of his Ashanti Regional campaign tour, he said Ghanaians are one people with a common destiny.
In this regard, he advised that in selecting the next president of the country, the citizenry should consider the person who has the information and ability to lead properly.
“In voting for the next president of our dear country, I’m urging you to cast your ballots for the person who can sustain the gains that have been achieved in the last 8 years.”
Napo, whose audience included traditional leaders and Imams, stressed that Ghanaians are blessed as they have since time immemorial lived in peace and harmony.
He particularly expressed happiness about the religious harmony in the country and also praised chiefs for their contributions to the peaceful coexistence in the country.
“Chiefs are neither Muslims nor pastors, but they give their lands for the establishment of churches and mosques for worship, and that is the beauty of being a Ghanaian.
“We respect each other because what unites us as Ghanaians is bigger and greater than any other thing. We should, therefore, be guided by this by voting for competence.
“Where a person is coming from or his/her religion is not significant. What is significant is what the person can do as president to lead our country into prosperity,” he advised.King Edward Ambrose Washman/
