Frimpong Boateng Urges Akufo Addo To Heed To Calls To End Galamsey

A former Minister of Environment, Science, innovation, and Innovation, Prof Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to listen to the appeals from various groups and labour unions to stop the destruction of forest reserves and water bodies caused by galamsey,reported.
According to him, the future of Ghana is in danger and the devastating impact on the environment and waterbodies cannot be endured for long.
He said, “Heed the call of citizens, CSOs, professionals, academics, research institutions and trade unions to bring an end to the destruction of our forest, waterbodies and associated biodiversity.”
“The very existence and future of Ghana are very at stake and Mr President I know you carehellip;Disobedience and destruction of nature cannot be endured for too long,” Prof Frimpong said at a grand durbar to mark the climax of the Asogli Yam Festival in Ho on Saturday.

Prof. Frimpong further urged the youth to step up and hold their leaders accountable for the obstacles they are facing and called on the next government to prioritise job creation and environmental restoration.
The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, also called on the next government to reverse the negative trends affecting the country, fostering growth and development.
He emphasized the need for conditions that would ensure free and fair elections in the upcoming polls.
The climax of this year's Asogli Yam Festival was marked by a grand durbar, where chiefs sat in state and people of the Asogli State, adorned in their vibrant traditional attire, sang and danced in celebration of their elders.
