Anti Galamsey Pact Ursula Owusu Backs NAPO

Ursula Owusu, Minister for Communications has backed calls for political parties, to demonstrate their commitment to ending illegal mining popularly called galamsey.
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the vice-presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had called on political parties especially the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to sign a “binding national anti-galamsey pact” to show their willingness to help end the menace.
Madam Ursula speaking to this on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', believes a pact will prevent political parties from going behind to make promises to illegal miners.
"It's getting out of hand and we all need to come together and say enough is enough...let's have a dispassionate national conversation about this. One party can't take political benefit of the situation; we are all in this to win votes but I'm not saying that justifies it...the President cannot be fighting galamsey and others will go behind making promises just to win votes; people who should've known better. If we persist like this, it'll affect all of us so I back calls that the political parties should publicly make a commitment" she stated
