Lecturer and Communications Consultant, Prof. Etse Sikanku has credited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the significant reduction of politics of insults and indecent campaigns in the country.
Speaking at a review of his book titled "Dr. Bawumia and the contemporary Vice Presidency” at the Islamic University on Friday, Prof. Sikanku said currently and throughout his political life, Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated "remarkable" decency in his campaign and public engagements which, he observed, has significantly reduced the political tension in the country.
"Dr. Bawumia is a decent politician and he has demonstrated that over time in his political career and more, more importantly as presidential candidate.”
”He is decent in the way he does his things and very decent in his communication. He does not insult even when provoked and clearly, this has contributed significantly to reducing tensionhellip; His decency has also changed the political landscape of the country because what the leader does, his tone is very significant”, Prof. Sikanku said.
Prof. Etse Sikanku further hailed Dr. Bawumia describing him as a “hardworking leader who gets the job done” and highlighted a number of impactful initiatives spearheaded by the NPP flagbearer in spite of his limited role as Vice President.
Prof. Sikanku, who has done extensive research on Vice Presidents in Ghana and the United States rated Dr. Bawumia as the “most impactful Vice President in Ghana” ever.
He likened Dr. Bawumia to former US Vice President, Walter Mondale, who is credited for redefining the role of a US Vice President which was largely ceremonial before his tenure.Ameyaw Adu Gyamfi/
