NDC Poised To Win Eastern Region Regional Chairman

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence in winning the Eastern Region in the forthcoming general election in December.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Dr Mark Oliver Kevor, said the NDC would not only win the region but would play a key role in ensuring the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, which will also be historic as it would lead to Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang becoming  the first female Vice President in the political history of Ghana.

He said the NDC had in the past won the Eastern Region in the general election held in 1992 and 1996, and that with the current political climate, the party was poised to repeat that history in the upcoming election.

Dr Kevor made the observation in Koforidua at a ceremony to welcome the NDC’s running mate, Opoku-Agyemang, to the Eastern Region, as she began her tour of the region.

He said the people of the region, like many other discerning Ghanaians, had had the chance of experiencing governance under both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and were therefore politically awakened to make informed decisions during the December 7 polls.

In addition, he said the NDC’s record superceded that of the NPP,  in terms of effective governance and concern for the people,.

Dr  Kevor lauded the NDC running mate for her selfless service to the country during her tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and as Minister of Education.

He said with her impressive acumen and personal achievement in Public Service, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang  stood out as a woman destined to set the pace and open the door for other women to ascend the high offices of the land.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged the people of the Eastern Region to consider the people-oriented policies being espoused by former President John Mahama and vote massively for the NDC.

The NDC, she said, would reset the country for massive development, and ensure that people enjoyed a meaningful life irrespective of their age, tribe, location or religion.

She said the welfare, development and respect for women were of prime importance to former President John Mahama and the NDC, underlining all that the party intended to pursue from January 7, 2025 when it assumed the administration of the country by the grace of God.

For his part, the National Youth Organiser of the NDC, George Opare Addo, said the party would win more seats in the  Eastern Region due to the sound programmes and intentions it had  outlined.
 
He, therefore, called on the rank and file of the party to persist to work hard to sell the good news of the NDC.

The NDC running mate has since ended the first phase of her tour to the Eastern Region which took her to the Akuapim South, Nsawam Adoagyiri, Suhum, New Juaben South, Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo and the Asuogyaman constituencies.

She was accompanied by a former Minister of Health, Dr Alex Segbefia, a former Minister of Finance, Seth Tekper, a former Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Addo, her spokesperson, James Agyenim Boateng, and other members of her campaign team.
