Kofi Nti and Ofori Amponsah’s 'Odo Nwom', released in 2010, has earned them a fortune in a copyright infringement case.
A behind-the-scenes video shared by American actor and film producer Tyler Perry in June 2024 captures the song being played during the shoot of 'Tyler Perry Sistas' television series.
This raised eyebrows among some Ghanaian music lovers and enthusiasts who felt there could have been a case of copyright infringement.
In a recent interview with Onua TV, Kofi Nti disclosed he and Ofori Amponsah have been compensated by Tyler Perry after using the song.
According to him, they had lawyers in the United Kingdom who contacted Tyler Perry and negotiated a deal for them.
"I did that song with Ofori Amponsah. We have a lawyer in the UK; he contacted the team, so negotiations and everything went well. So, we have solved the issue; a little money was involved," he said.
Kofi Nti and Ofori Amponsah are known for collaborations such Atwetaan, Bra, Wake Up, Monica, among others.
