Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has publicly apologised to Ghanaians following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
After Ghana's 2-1 defeat to Niger in their final Group F match on Monday, which sealed their exit from the qualification race, Coach Otto Addo expressed deep regret over the team's disappointing performance.
In his post-match interview, the coach acknowledged the pain and frustration felt by the nation, understanding the gravity of the Black Stars’ absence from Morocco for the upcoming continental competition.
“I am ready to apologise. I am so sorry that we did not do well and qualify. I am sorry because I know how it feels and how Ghanaians are hurt. I am so sorry,” Coach Otto Addo said, reflecting on the team’s failure to deliver.
Throughout the qualification series, Ghana struggled, failing to secure a win in any of their six matches. With just three points, the Black Stars finished bottom of Group F, marking a disastrous campaign for the team.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to meet on Wednesday to discuss the future of the Black Stars and plan the next steps following the qualification setback.
