The management of Ignite Media Group operators of Metro TV, Original TV and Original 91.1 FM has released a press statement in relation to an earlier invasion of some armed police personnel during a live broadcast of Metro TV’s Good morning Ghana, hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey.
The management of Ignite Media Group revealed that at about 9:30 am on Wednesday, 27th November, 2024, an auctioneer, a court bailiff and armed policemen stormed the premises of Metro TV, purported to be acting under a court order to execute a judgment against Metro TV.
According to their management, the auctioneer, bailiff and the armed policemen forced their way into the studio of Metro TV to interrupt the Good Morning Ghana programme leading to an abrupt halt of the programme.
Portion of the statement read, “It is significant to state that last year, the said George Addo (the auctioneer) led a team of masked policemen armed-to-the-teeth in a pickup truck to lay in wait for Dr. Randy Abbey and blocked his vehicle upon his arrival to host the Good Morning Ghana programme. This attempt last year, among other things, to seize the vehicle of Dr. Randy Abbey was orchestrated to execute the same judgment. This effort was aborted when Dr. Randy Abbey vehemently resisted the said attempt as the property they sought to attach was his.”
Meanwhile a separate letter released by the Ghana Police Service reveals that the police service has commenced investigations into the happenings at Ignite Media Group.
According to the Police, their preliminary investigations indicate that upon a request from the court, Police Officers accompanied a court bailiff in the organization of the judgment creditor, Vodacom Business (Ghana) Limited, to execute a court order against Metro TV.Kobina Darlington/
