With just a few days to the 2024 general elections, contenders in both the parliamentary and the presidential race, together with their supporters, have their campaigns in the fourth gear.
The Member of Parliament for Effutu and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, who is seeking re-election, appears to have put the current impasse in Parliament behind him, as he was captured campaigning excitedly in a video cited by GhanaWeb.
The Leader, whose request for an urgent recall of Parliament was rejected by Speaker Alban Bagbin, is seen in the video leading an enchanting campaign song of himself at a rally.
“Who said Alex is not good,” the Effutu legislator sang in Fante.
The crowd retorted, “The person should come out and say for us to hear.”
Afenyo-Markin, who was in a T-shirt and dark sunglasses, with a scarf around his head, could be seen making subtle body movements as the melody continued.
The incumbent Effutu MP is expected to face stiff competition in his re-election bid from James Kofi Annan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate.
