On Friday, January 6, 2023, former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen tendered in his resignation to President Akufo-Addo, which was accepted.
Addressing Ghanaians at a press conference, he said, “I wish to use this platform to formally announce my decision to contest the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party when the Party officially opens nominations for that purpose”.
Subsequently forming Agric Minister, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto followed suit.
He has also declared his intention to contest for the NPP's flagbearership position.
