Albert Kan Dapaah, Ghana’s Minister for National Security, rarely steps into the spotlight, often letting his work speak for itself.
However, during a rare interview on Kessben FM monitored by , he opened up about the complexities of his role and offered a new way of thinking about his position.
In his reflective and deliberate tone, he shared an unconventional but thought-provoking perspective, one that obstacles the traditional understanding of national security.
“I don’t often grant interviews because of the nature of my responsibilities and the demands of my schedule,” he began, emphasizing the distinct pressures that come with his position.
As he spoke, it became clear that Kan Dapaah views his work as more than just the enforcement of security protocols or intelligence gathering.
Instead, he urged listeners to see his role through a broader lensmdash;one centered on maintaining Ghana’s stability.
“I would prefer to be seen as a Minister for National Stability rather than just National Security,” he said with conviction, signalling a shift in focus that prioritizes peace and cohesion above all else.
His words painted a vivid picture of what stability entailsmdash;not just the absence of conflict but the presence of trust, unity, and resilience in the face of obstacles. Travel packages
The minister also addressed the delicate relationship between politics and his responsibilities, a balancing act he has had to perfect.
He spoke about the requirement of bipartisan trust, lamenting how political biases often cloud the perception of his work.
“My role would be more effective if all political parties placed their trust in me,” he explained. For Kan Dapaah, maintaining stability requires cooperation across the aisle and a collective commitment to the national interest.
“National stability is not something that can be achieved if my office continues to be viewed through a political lens,” he added.
