The trial of the fourteen (14) persons who have been accused of their roles in the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama will come to an end on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
The seven-member jury is expected to give their verdict on Tuesday after Justice Mariama Owusu, a Justice of the Supreme Court sitting as an additional High Court judge, is done with summing up.
While adjourning the case to Monday, November 27, 2023, for defence lawyers to conclude their final address to the jury, Justice Mariama Owusu hinted that she would do her summation on Tuesday, November 28.
Major Maxwell Mahama, a soldier, was allegedly killed by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi on May 29, 2017, after they mistook him for an armed robber.
The court, which was today (November 24, 2023) expected to have Lawyer Anim Addo, Counsel for the 13th and 14th accused persons, present his closing address to the jury, had to adjourn the case to Monday, November 27, 2023. The adjournment became essential because the jury was not properly constituted.
