The Vice Chancellor of the Presbyterian University, Prof. John Ofosu-Anim, has said as a faith-based university in Ghana, it is committed to produce holistic human development in teaching, research and outreach for a global population.
That, he said, was in context of Christian ethics and values embedded in the educational philosophy of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana – faith in God, excellence, commitment, integrity and discipline.
At the Matriculation ceremony at the Tema Campus yesterday, 1,042 fresh students were admitted to pursue various undergraduate programs of study at Akropong - Akuapem, Tema and Abetifi campuses.
The Presbyterian University Ghana was established in 2003 with Five campuses in Tema, Akropong, Kumasi, Agogo and received a presidential charter last year.
The students will undertake various programmes of studies including BSc. Development Studies, BSc. International Development, BSc. Environmental and Natural Resources Management, Bachelor of Education in Social Studies, and BSc. Business.
Prof. John Owusu said the university’s programmes were aimed at developing high-quality graduates and leaders with thorough understanding and capacity to address the various obstacles that had bedevilled the country and the continent.
He further told the students that since the university did not use invigilators to conduct all sorts of examinations, they must eschew all forms of cheating during examinations, adding that integrity should be their watchword.
Finally, he said since education is a life-long experience, and as students, they should take full benefit and privileges offered them in pursuing their programmes, especially the university's E-Learning platform for continuous engagement with lecturers and facilitators throughout their study.
