President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been urged to dismiss Attorney General Godfred Dame in light of a leaked audio aired by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The leaked audio recording contains a conversation between Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah-Dame and the third accused person in the ongoing ambulance case against Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson, Richard Jakpa.
In the 16-minute recording, Mr Jakpa alleged that the Attorney-General had prompted him to testify falsely against Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the ongoing ambulance case.
Bernard Mornah, Co-Convener of AriseGhana, in a statement, urged the President to dismiss Mr. Dame immediately to restore faith in the Attorney General’s office and the Ghanaian Bar.
“We, therefore, call on the President to sack Mr Godfred Dame without any further delay in order to restore some confidence in the office of Attorney-General as well as the Bar of Ghana” he said
The opposition NDC has on the other hand called for his resignation.
However, James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called "Kabila" speaking in a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' says there's no basis for Godfred Dame to be sacked or resign.
