Ablakwa Calls For Investigations Into Reports On Supposed LI On Driving Without Speed Limits For MPs

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called for an investigation into earlier reports of parliament’s intention to introduce an L.I. to amend portions of the Road Traffic Regulations 2012, that will allow MPs use sirens and drive without speed limits.
“I thought those of us totally at sea about this supposed L.I. on sirens and no speed limits missed the ball in Parliament but it is reassuring to hear the Speaker of Parliament deny information of the controversial L.I.
“I hope the Speaker will launch an investigation into this whole furore. It is also great news that my Minority Leader has issued a statement opposing the L.I.” parts of his statement read.
In response to Speaker Bagbin's denial of these reports, Okudzeto Ablakwa said attention should instead be directed towards the Boankra Scandal.
He highlighted the Minister of Transport’s alleged illegal conduct, which he said could potentially result in the country facing a US$ 3.6 billion judgement debt, rather than focusing on proposing an L.I.
In a post on his official X account on July 16, Ablakwa further lauded efforts taken by the Minority Leader to oppose the L.I.
“I am in total and unequivocal support with our Leader, Hon. Dr. Ato Forson on this matter.
“The Transport Ministry should be responding to the Boankra Scandal and how the Minister’s illegal conduct has left Ghana with a potential US$3.6billion judgement debt not proposing such needless L.I.s,” Ablakwa posted.
