Ghana FA Fined 15000 By CAF Over Fan Troubles During Black Stars Clash With Cape Verde

The ConfAtilde;copy;dAtilde;copy;ration Africane de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has fined the Ghana Football Association (GFA) $15,000 over fan troubles during 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Match 4 game between Ghana and Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
Ghana lost the game 2-1 but some irate Ghana fans clashed with the police leading to CAF fine.
According to the Safety and Security Official, two groups of Ghanaian supporters were involved in an altercation at halftime at Stand Ndeg;18, prompting the use of tear gas.
After reviewing all relevant facts, allegations, legal arguments, and evidence, the Disciplinary Board made the decision to impose the fine. The GFA must pay the fine within 60 days of the decision date.
In response, the GFA is urging supporter groups and all Ghanaians in CAtilde;acute;te d'Ivoire to support the Black Stars while adhering to the rules of the game. The GFA will work with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which authorized the supporters' travel to the tournament, and the leaders of the supporters groups to prevent similar incidents in the future.
